We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Alessandro Bay as our new Executive Chef at Azzurra. With an impressive background that includes the Michelin-starred Locanda Locatelli, Alessandro brings a wealth of experience and passion to our kitchen.
Originally from Genoa, Italy, Alessandro boasts over 28 years of culinary expertise. His culinary journey began in 1995 after graduating from the prestigious Nino Bergese Catering School in Genoa, he went on to gain valuable experience in his hometown and the vibrant city of Rome before making the move to London in 2000.
His most recent role was as Head Chef and consultant at the acclaimed Locanda Locatelli. During his over 20 years there, Alessandro worked alongside owner and MasterChef Italy judge Giorgio Locatelli, where his hard work helped Locanda Locatelli secure a Michelin star in 2003, which has been retained ever since.
Azzurra is an ode to the Italian seaside, embodying the essence of Sicily and the Amalfi Coast. Under Alessandro, we will continue to delight customers with the freshest, sustainable “boat-to-table” seafood from the British Isles and the Mediterranean seas, offering diners an authentic taste of Italy, crafted with local and seasonal produce.
Staying true to his heritage, Alessandro will be creating a selection of special dishes available throughout November and December, before developing his own exciting new menus including a selection of his signature dishes at the restaurant. Alessandro shares Azzurra’s passion for sustainability and seasonality in his cooking.
